Holly _ Bucket Hat
free pattern
For this hot and sunny summer, we have created an exclusive bucket hat pattern in Paglia di Fiesole raffia, by Mafil: a fresh and very light yarn, in pure viscose, available in a wide range of natural and vibrant shades.
Making this accessory, trendy and very fashionable, is super simple and quick: just follow these instructions!

Materials:
Yarn
Paglia di Fiesole (raffia 100% viscose, skeins of 25g/58m): 2 skeins in the main color (MC), 1 skein in the secondary color (SC)
Tools
5.5mm crochet hook, stitch markers, large-eye needle (to weave in ends)
Abbreviation legend:
SL ST: slip stitch
SC: single crochet
CH: chain
HDC: half double crochet
DC: double crochet
MC: main color
SC: secondary color
Note:
All double crochets and half double crochets should always be made by inserting the hook into the spaces between two stitches of the previous round.
Instructions:
With the Main Color (MC) make a magic ring.
Round 1: 2 CH (counts as 1 DC), 10 DC into the magic ring. Pull the “free” tail to close the magic ring. Join with 1 SL ST in the second of the 2 starting CH.
Round 2: 2 CH (counts as 1 DC), 1 DC in the same space, *2 DC in the next space*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round. Join with 1 SL ST in the second of the 2 starting CH.
Round 3: 2 CH (counts as 1 DC), 1 DC in the same space, 1 DC in the next space, *2 DC in the next space, 1 DC in the next space*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round. Join with 1 SL ST in the second of the 2 starting CH.
Round 4: 2 CH (counts as 1 DC), 1 DC in the same space, 1 DC in the next two spaces, *2 DC in the next space, 1 DC in the next two spaces*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round. Join with 1 SL ST in the second of the 2 starting CH.
Round 5: 2 CH (counts as 1 DC), 1 DC in the same space, 1 DC in the next three spaces, *2 DC in the next space, 1 DC in the next three spaces*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round. Join with 1 SL ST in the second of the 2 starting CH.
Round 6: Work all stitches as they appear in HDC in back loop only (insert the hook into the back loop of the stitch below), distributing 4 increases evenly. Start the round with 2 CH and close it with a SL ST in the second of the 2 starting CH.
Rounds 7 - 15: Work all rounds in HDC, with no increases or decreases, always starting with 2 CH (counts as 1 HDC) and closing with a SL ST in the second of the 2 starting CH.
All stitches should always be made by inserting the hook into the spaces between two stitches of the previous round.
Cut the MC yarn.
Insert the hook into the same stitch where you made the closing SL ST of round 15 and with the SC make 1 CH (counts as one SC). Place a stitch marker.
Rounds 16 - 19: With the SC, work all rounds in spiral in SC. At the end of round 19, at the stitch marker, make a SL ST and cut the SC yarn. Remove the stitch marker.
Round 20: Insert the hook into the same stitch where you made the closing SL ST of round 19 and with the MC make 2 CH (counts as one HDC). Work the entire round in HDC distributing 5 increases evenly (about one every 12 stitches). At the end of the round, join with 1 SL ST in the second of the 2 starting CH.
Rounds 21 - 23: Work all rounds in HDC, distributing 5 increases evenly in each round, always starting with 2 CH (counts as 1 HDC) and closing with a SL ST in the second of the 2 starting CH. All stitches should always be made by inserting the hook into the spaces between two stitches of the previous round.
(If you prefer a hat with a wider brim, add one skein of Paglia di Fiesole in MC and repeat round 23 until you reach the desired length).
Cut the yarn.
Finishing:
Weave in the ends with the needle.
Gently pull the brim of your hat to widen it and give it the desired shape.
